On the recommendation of the Board, we are pleased to award Life Memberships to individuals in recognition of their outstanding service to Bethanie.
Peg was on the original Social Services Committee of Churches of Christ WA and worked tirelessly to help raise funds to purchase Joondanna, the first Bethanie (Churches of Christ Homes) facility. During this time she was instrumental in arranging volunteers to help with the practical needs of residents. Peg was also actively involved with Sunshine visits, where ladies’ ministry teams would visit a site once a quarter for afternoon tea. In more recent years, Peg has been a driving force behind Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal.
Ron has been volunteering with Bethanie for over 52 years. In 2016 he was recognised by the Governor for 50 years of service to the community through volunteering. In 2015 he was the winner of the Bethanie Volunteer of the Year award. Music has been the focus of his volunteering at both Kingsley and Warwick, and he has also performed and assisted at church and communion services at Joondanna, Geneff and Bethanie on the Park. Ron currently volunteers at Kingsley and with his wife Beryl, regularly visits a 93-year-old Bethanie home care customer and plays the piano with her.
88 years young, Tom Morrison, has been involved with Bethanie for over 55 years, volunteering his time in various roles such as a Church Pastor, conducting services at Joondanna, Bethanie on the Park, Geneff and Warwick. Tom’s first dealings with Bethanie were in the very early days of Bethanie Joondanna, where he recalls connecting with the original Bethanie Board after the purchase of the Joondanna land and the subsequent ‘rallying of the troops’ to ensure that Churches of Christ Age Care Homes opened. Tom’s first wife, Pam, was also actively involved with Bethanie as a staff member at Joondanna where Tom volunteered driving the bus, doing gardening and assisting with Sunshine visits and church services. Tom has recently had two knee surgeries but that isn’t holding him back – he is already rostered on to do a service at Bethanie Geneff before the end of the year.
