Bethanie proudly sponsors Australian Housing Institute’s Brighter Future Awards category
Bethanie representatives attended the Australasian Housing Institute’s (AHI) Brighter Future Awards on Friday 3 December, which was held to recognise the valuable contribution made by dedicated housing professionals across Australia and New Zealand.
Bethanie Manager of Housing, Sean Kelly, who is also the WA Director of the AHI, and Co-Chair of the judging panel opened the proceedings, acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land, the Wadjuk Noongar People.
Sean presented the awards for Outstanding Achievement to Kathryn Moorey from Stellar Living, and the Future Leader award to consultant, Paula O’Leary.
The Awards for ‘Leading Innovation’ and ‘Response to COVID-19’ were presented by Director General Department of Communities, Mike Rowe to Foundation Housing Limited and St Vincent De Paul respectively.
Member for Wanneroo, Sabine Winton MLA then presented the Award for ‘Inspirational Team Member’ to Sarah Tutolo from Noongar Mia Mia and ‘Excellence in Social Housing’ of which Bethanie is the category sponsor, to the Reset Integration Programme by the Wungening Aboriginal Corporation.
In closing, Mr Kelly said: “Those nominated have each made a significant and lasting difference, to tenants, to their service users, to their community, to their colleagues and our profession.”
“We are pleased to acknowledge these inspiring individuals, teams and projects here today.”
Each of the WA award winners will contend for the overall awards, where they will compete against winners from every State and Territory in Australia, as well as New Zealand.
This event will be held in March next year in Melbourne as part of the National Housing Conference.
The Australasian Housing Institute hosts regular networking events and webinars to help drive improvements within the community housing sector.
Bethanie Tenancy Manager Village Operations, Beauty Bwembya will be hosting an important AHI webinar on 10 December on the subject of: Family and Domestic Violence informed practice.
Although this is targeted to social housing, the learning will be able to be applied across a range of Bethanie Services.
