Raising the profile of Bethanie Housing – one teddy at a time
Did you know that Bethanie is also a provider of social housing for seniors living in Perth and regional WA?
Bethanie’s Social Housing team has been working very hard behind the scenes to raise the profile of the Social Housing division at Bethanie.
Manager of Housing, Sean Kelly, took the opportunity to approach the talented crafting cohort at Bethanie Dalyellup site to take on Project Bob.
Project BOB which stands for ‘Best of Bethanie’, is how Bethanie distils what makes Bethanie, Bethanie, and aims to bring out the unique aspect of the organisation.
“I wanted to raise the profile of the Social Housing division among Bethanie colleagues, but also celebrate the talent that exists within our Housing tenants,” Sean said.
This is when Sean came across Bethanie Dalyellup tenant, Elsie, who is part of the craft group at Dalyellup.
Elsie is an avid sewer and has created teddy bears in the past. When Sean approached her to make 40 teddy bears for Bethanie’s Leadership Team, Elsie took on the challenge and started sewing the bears from her unit.
Elsie, who has been a tenant at Dalyellup for four years, said she as completing on average two bears per day.
Sean said he hopes Elsie’s generosity and selfless act will inspire others within the organisation to promote the unique and talented people we are for at Bethanie.
The teddy bears, which have all been named Bob, now reside at each Bethanie site.
