Board of Directors 

Bethanie has a relationship with the Churches of Christ in Western Australia. The church oversees the direction of the organisation via a Board who decide on policy and give strategic direction to the Chief Executive. Find out more about the Bethanie Board of Directors.


Chair, Diana Forsyth

Chair, Diana Forsyth

(B.Com, MBA, GAICD)

Diana Forsyth is a Management Consultant who specialises in organisational strategy, structure and transformation.  She has a career interest in organisational forms, inspiring cultures and leadership that removes barriers to improvement.

Diana has served as a Board Member and Non-Executive Director since 1994, on the Boards of Health Support Services, Lions Eye Institute, NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust, NHS Cambridgeshire Community Services, WA Primary Health Alliance and State Training Board of WA, among others. She has chaired Quality, Safety & Governance, Finance & Performance, Remuneration and Organisational Transformation Committees.  

Diana has consulted to organisations, primarily in the Health and Resources sectors, in Australia, UK, US, Asia Pacific and Europe. She lived and worked in Cambridge, UK from 2006 to 2016.   Prior to this, Diana held senior roles with St John of God Health Care Group when it was formed, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research and Rio Tinto Iron Ore.  

Diana is a member of all Bethanie Group Boards and most Committees. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Todd Mairs

Deputy Chair, Todd Mairs

(MBA, FCPA, Post Grad Dip IT, B.Com, GAICD)

Todd Mairs is a founding Director of Sia Partners and his 25 years of management consulting experience across Europe, Asia and America have earned him a reputation as a leading advisor in strategic planning and customer management. He also has extensive experience in the Aged Care and Health industries, as well as not-for-profit organisations and charities. 

Prior to Sia, Todd spent four years based in the UK where, as a Manager with Accenture, he consulted to several major financial services institutions across Europe and America. This built on his experience as a Management Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Australia.

Todd is a past recipient of the WA Business News ’40 under 40’ award, presented to Western Australia’s top 40 business leaders aged under 40 years of age.

Todd is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a Trustee of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia and a Board Member for a not-for-profit organisation that builds homes and opportunities for Cambodian families.  

Todd is Chair of Bethanie’s Business Development Committee and member of the Audit & Risk Management Committee.  He is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

David Kilpatrick

David Kilpatrick

David Kilpatrick was a former lawyer for 18 years and the Managing Partner of a commercial law firm, with offices in West Perth and Geraldton. David specialised in Supreme and Federal Court corporate and commercial litigation and corporate advice on regulatory and governance matters. 

David acted for international large public and private companies and not-for-profit entities. David was also Chair of the Board of Carey Baptist Church and a member of the Carey Baptist College Governors’ Council from their commencement and for 16 years, until he took up an executive position as the CEO of the Carey Group.

David is a member of Bethanie’s Nominations, Remuneration & Governance Committee and a Director on the Bethanie Housing Limited Board.

Maria Foundas

Dr Maria Foundas

(MBBS (Hons), FRACP, MPH, GAICD)

Maria Foundas is a medical graduate of the University of Western Australia, a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Consultant Geriatrician at St John of God Hospital, Midland. She is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Geriatric Medicine. Maria has completed a Master of Public Health (Curtin University) and is currently undertaking a Master of Bioethics through the University of Sydney.  

Maria has extensive experience as a Clinician in Aged Care and is actively involved in a wide range of clinical governance activities. Maria holds an academic position at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle as Discipline Lead for Geriatric Medicine. Maria is committed to ensuring continuous safety and quality improvement across the Aged Care sector. She is passionate about the embedding of best-practice, evidence-based clinical care standards and enriching the ageing experience for older Australians. 

Maria is Chair of Bethanie’s Services Review Committee and a member of the Experience Committee. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Celia Hammond

Celia Hammond

(LLM, DHL (Hons), GAICD)

Celia Hammond is a practising lawyer, with previous experience as a legal academic, university executive and politician.

Celia graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Law (Hons) in 1991. She worked as a solicitor in private practice from 1992 to 1994 and lectured in law at the University of Western Australia from 1994 to 1997, having attained a Masters in Law in 1996. In 1998 Celia commenced employment at the University of Notre Dame as one of five foundation academic staff members in the School of Law. She went on to serve as General Counsel for the University from 2006 to 2008 and as the third Vice Chancellor of the University from 2008 to 2019.

In 2017, Celia was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Portland.  She also served as a member of the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022, representing the Division of Curtin in Western Australia.

Celia is currently Principal of Core Law & Advisory, a Trustee of St John of God Health Care and a Director/Commissioner of Catholic Education WA Ltd. 

Celia joined the Bethanie Board in May 2023.  She is Chair of Bethanie’s Nominations, Remuneration & Governance Committee and member of the Services Review Committee.  Celia is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Ross Hughes

Ross Hughes

(BBus, FCPA, FAICD)

Ross Hughes is an experienced Board Member with a diverse portfolio, including financial services, higher education, aged care, water utilities and the public sector, across national and international businesses. Until July 2019, Ross was the CFO of the WA Water Corporation and previously CFO of BankWest and the wider HBOS Australia group of companies.

Ross is a Senate member of Murdoch University, Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee of the WA Department of Treasury and a Board member of SIM Australia and SIMAid Australia, an arm of the global mission and aid organisation. 

Ross commenced as a Director of Bethanie in August 2023, and is Chair of Bethanie’s Audit & Risk Management Committee.  He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dana

Dr Dana Dermody

(RN, PhD, GAICD)

Dana Dermody brings over two decades of gerontologic nursing expertise to her role as Bethanie Director, which commenced in August 2023. She is committed to ensuring exceptional care for older adults within the Bethanie community. 

Dana’s previous experience as a non-executive Director in the Aged Care sector, and her gerontologic background, empowers her to understand and address the unique challenges faced by older adults and their families as they transition into retirement living and aged care. Dana’s passion is to infuse innovative strategies into the Aged Care sector, to change the way Australians experience ageing for the better.

Dana holds an academic appointment as Senior Lecturer in Nursing at the University of the Sunshine Coast.  She leads a program of research which is undertaken with multiple disciplines in the space between nursing, allied health, engineering and computer science, under the umbrella of Gerontechnology, where technologies are developed and studied to support older adults as they age.  Dana is an active contributor to the Australian Gerontologic Association. 

Dana is a member of Bethanie’s Services Review Committee.  She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Roulé Jones, CEO

Roulé Jones

Chief Executive Officer (Interim)

Roule brings a strong leadership focus on growing a sustainable business, and leads the organisation in providing the highest level of strategic direction, and leadership.

As Bethanie’s previous Chief Financial Officer, Roulé brings a financial advisory lens to the development of the Bethanie strategy along with the treasury function to enable growth and commercial insights to improve business performance.

Prior to joining Bethanie, Roulé was Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary at Orbital UAV (ASX: OEC) where she has been instrumental in the strategy to transition to an aerospace manufacturer.

Roulé is a Chartered Accountant with international experience across varying industries in financial management, strategic planning, risk management, audit and governance.

Shane Ogilvie

Chief Financial Officer, Chief of Strategy & Innovation / CEO Bethanie Housing

Shane is responsible for Bethanie’s strategic initiatives relating to growth, innovation and technology, as well as providing the financial acuity across the organisation as CFO. He is a highly motivated senior leader with extensive experience leading commercial development, strategy and innovation teams across the mining, manufacturing, defence and financial services industries.

With a keen interest in applying technology to solve business problems, Shane has built strategic partnerships with international start-ups and scale-ups to deliver astounding customer experiences. Prior to joining Bethanie, Shane delivered a strategic partnership which allowed the launch of an Australia market-first wearable payment product and spent time working with a start-up digital bank in South Africa.

Shane holds a degree in Actuarial Science, holds post-graduate qualifications in accounting and was formerly the Chairperson of the Spirit of the Streets Charity.

Annie Pathak

Chief Operating Officer

Annie holds a Bachelor of Science specialising in Health Information Management, with a particular interest in casemix management.  She has over 15 years' experience in management and senior management roles across the health care and aged care sector, leading teams across the spectrum of clinical and non-clinical functions.

Annie came to Bethanie in 2020 as a regional manager, progressing to the COO role in December 2021 where she oversees the Residential, Village and Home Care arms of the organisation.

The direct connection between Annie’s work and the impact on each resident is what drives her, along with her personal values of compassion and service.  She feels privileged to have the responsibility for ensuring the business balances resident-centred care with effective and efficient operational management.  

Dr Margot Wood

Chief Experience Officer

With a portfolio encompassing Customer Experience, Marketing & Brand, Human Resources, Capability Development and Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Margot is committed to enhancing the experience of Bethanie’s customers and our people. Core to this is aligning Bethanie’s Mission, culture, leadership, and operational design to create value.

Margot is passionate about people centred service design, leveraging technology, and capable teams. An emphasis on creating clarity, a commitment to making a difference, then establishing the elements to make this happen.

Complementing her role at Bethanie, Margot actively engages with the Australian Institute of Company Directors, where she delivers insights on governance and the role of the Director on the AICD’s flagship program, the Company Director’s Course.

Margot brings prior Board experience and recent tenure with organisations such as HBF as well as the global Fortune 500 HR Resources organisation, The Adecco Group and their sub brand (Akkodis – technology & engineering). She holds a PhD (Information Systems – Board & Executive Decision Making), a Bachelor of Business (1st Class Honours; Marketing and Finance) and a Dip. Teach (Comms).

David Vanleen

David VanLeen

Mission Manager

David oversees our Mission portfolio which includes Bethanie’s Spiritual and Pastoral Care.  Prior to Bethanie, David has served as a Church Pastor with Churches of Christ and an Area Sales Manager for Target Australia.  Additionally, David has chaired numerous boards, including a Charitable Trust and various Church boards; he has been a State Facilitator Trainer for Focus on the Family Australia and has enjoyed working on project teams for Meaningful Ageing Australia.  David says he grew up with Bethanie, remembering attending the openings of a number of Bethanie sites over the years.  David officially began with Bethanie in 1999 as a Chaplain.

David is passionate about people finding their purpose and meaning in life no matter the age.  He believes that, no matter your age or gender, you can live a meaningful life and have hope.  David loves the diversity of the people he meets in his role and loves to share how good aged care can change lives in amazing ways.
