Set against the historic gardens of Government House, the event brought together volunteers from across the state to acknowledge the significant contribution volunteers make at both an organisational and community level. For Bethanie’s representatives, it was an opportunity to be formally recognised for years of dedicated service and to reflect on the broader impact of volunteering across WA.As one attendee described the experience, it was “a day to remember for sure” — a sentiment that captured both the pride and gratitude felt by those in attendance.
Every contribution matters
The 2025 theme for International Volunteer Day, “Every Contribution Matters,”
strongly reflects the way Bethanie volunteers support our communities each day. Our volunteers offer far more than practical assistance — they bring compassion, presence and genuine care, alongside a wide range of interests and talents that enrich daily life for others.
Across Bethanie, volunteers share their love of music, art, books, photography, gardening and games, while others offer something just as valuable: time, conversation and companionship. Together, these contributions help create thriving, connected communities where people can continue living in ways that bring meaning and joy.
Thank you to our volunteers
While International Volunteer Day shines a spotlight on a small group of long‑serving volunteers, it also represents a heartfelt thank you to every person who chooses to volunteer with Bethanie. Whether supporting activities, events, social connection or simply being there when someone needs a friendly face, each contribution plays a part in shaping the heart of our organisation.
We are grateful for the kindness, generosity and commitment our volunteers bring to Bethanie every day — on International Volunteer Day, and throughout the year.
