Bethanie, one of Western Australia’s leading aged care providers, has welcomed the introduction of the new Aged Care Act as a crucial step toward delivering high-quality care to older Australians.
The reforms aim to enhance the lives of those in care, support their families, and strengthen the aged care sector as a whole.
"As aged care providers, we welcome these changes to provide every Australian with compassionate, high-quality care and real choices for our customers," said Roulé Jones, CEO of Bethanie.
“These are important reforms that will help improve the financial stability of the aged care sector and enable greater choice in services available for aged care residents.
“The increased capital investment will grow the number of aged care places and assist in alleviating the pressure in the health system.”
Bethanie supports aged care reform to drive improvements in accountability, quality, and transparency within the sector.
"Many of the changes outlined in the new Act are already embedded in our practices, but we will continue to review and adapt to ensure we exceed the highest standards of care," said Ms Jones.
A generational opportunity exists to advance and revitalise the sector, ready for the increasing and changing demand for aged care among the growing population of older Australians. These reforms create a more sustainable system and greater choice for those it is designed to serve.
"The introduction of the Aged Care Act is a significant step forward for our sector. Bethanie is committed to being at the forefront of these changes as we continue to strive for excellence and ensure that we change the way Australians experience ageing — every customer, every family, every community, every day,” said Ms Jones.
The Aged Care Act, introduced to the Australian Parliament yesterday, is designed to strengthen Australia’s aged care system. The new legislation is expected to come into effect on 1 July 2025.
