Bethanie Social Centres Art Exhibition

Bethanie Social Centres from the South West to Perth spent the past few months creating art and craft works to showcase at their very own Art Exhibition.

The six centres from Bunbury, Kwinana, Port Kennedy, South Perth and West Perth were encouraged to enter some of their ‘early works’ from their past, as well as to embrace their current creative pursuits.

West Perth Social Centre Coordinator Anja Danner displayed all of the pieces, with descriptions including information about the artist to accompany each item.

“As diverse we are as people in our interests and abilities, these works are just as diverse,’ said Anja.

The Social Centres encourage their clients to believe that everyone can be creative with the right support, ideas, and imagination. Along with traditional art practices, some clients used everyday items and made them into stunning artworks. Like the used coffee pods made into beautiful home decorations, and the ‘woolly tree’ brought to life with knitted ‘leaves’.

COO Annie Pathak joined in judging and helped make the difficult decision to award winners over five categories.

Altogether it was a hugely successful event, bringing people, art and joy together.
