Home Care Nursing Benefits with Bethanie

At Bethanie, we believe in creating an atmosphere where ageing Australians are able to live their most meaningful lives. Our team of Home Care nurses play a vital role in helping our clients do just that.

For Annelie Siemens, one of our valued Bethanie Community Registered Nurses (RNs), this is what makes the job so satisfying. “I come to work every day because of my clients – to know that I can go into their homes and make a difference in their life, that’s my reward at the end of the day”.

In this blog, we spotlight the great work our Home Care nurses do day in and day out and explore how their efforts make it possible for Bethanie to deliver exceptional care to our clients.

What Makes Our Exceptional Home Care Team Special

Respect and Enthusiasm

Respect is at the core of everything we do. For our team members, that means delivering great quality service the way the client wants, how they want, where they want it. By adopting this ethos, our nurses provide a service that is not only professional but also compassionate and caring.

Enthusiasm goes hand in hand with respect. For Bethanie’s Home Care team, providing medical services to our clients is only part of the job. The other part is delivering an experience that brightens their day. “You’re not just the nurse anymore,” says Annelie. “Sometimes you’re the only person they will see that day, so you become a friend.”

Connection and Communication

One of the benefits of Home Care nursing is that clients and nurses have the opportunity to build an ongoing rapport. Whether visits are daily, weekly or intermittent, these repeated one-on-one interactions lay the foundation for a genuine connection.

“You go in for an hour to do a specific task but in that time you are talking to them, you are building that relationship, which is something that you don’t have in a hospital,” says Annelie. “And I think most of us become nurses because we want to care, we want to go that extra mile”.

For clients who may not have much personal interaction in their day-to-day lives, this regular communication can become a lifeline. At the same time, our nurses value these relationships and enjoy the opportunity to learn from people who have a wealth of life experience. “You can learn so much about their resilience and how they help each other and take that back into your own life”.

Commitment to Excellence

As a not for profit, Bethanie is focussed on delivering Mission and a positive ageing experience for every customer while future-proofing the organisation for financial sustainability in a challenging aged care environment. We ensure we have the flexibility to invest in professional development and prioritise quality over quantity when it comes to the services we deliver.

A core part of our Mission is to positively change the way Australians experience ageing. To do this, we hold our RNs to a high standard and give them the tools and training to go above and beyond. From mentoring to ongoing learning and professional development, we invest in our staff to ensure they can provide the best possible service.

For Annelie, this is why she chose to work for Bethanie. “I know that when I come to work that I work for a company that will look after me but also look after their clients and that our values align.”
