Residential Respite at Bethanie Aged Care Homes

Looking after yourself is as important as the care you provide every day.

Whilst your role as a carer is important and rewarding, it is beneficial to your health and well-being that you take a break and recharge.

Respite care is temporary, short-term care and accommodation arrangements provided to the person you care for so you can take a well-earnt break from caregiving.

Respite can make a significant and positive change to your life and to the life of the person you are caring for. When you need a helping hand, Bethanie can provide a variety of options to assist you.

During the stay, your loved ones will be entitled to the same care and support services as permanent residents.

Respite may be used by older people to trial residential aged care living or help loved one’s transition in as a permanent resident. Respite can also be used by those who are transitioning from a hospital stay before moving back home or into an aged care home.

Our respite services are designed to be flexible and are available for a minimum of two weeks at a time in a variety of settings and locations.

Q. What if I’m not eligible?
If you are not eligible, Bethanie also offer privately funded respite services. For more information, contact our friendly team on 131 151.
Q. Can I try out respite for a short period?
Yes. Temporary accommodation can be provided for a minimum of two weeks to ensure you experience all that Bethanie has to offer and truly relax in your new environment. This will also allow caregivers enough time to relax and recharge whilst knowing their loved ones are in a safe environment.
Q. How do I access respite care?
The Australian Government subsidises eligible providers directly to make care more affordable. Access to residential respite is dependent on your My Aged Care Support Plan. This will determine the level of respite subsidy your provider will receive, and ensure you receive care appropriate to your needs. You will need a face-to-face assessment completed by a trained assessor from My Aged Care to determine your eligibility. The criteria are the same for permanent residential care.
