Home Care Frequently Asked Questions

Funded by the Australian Government, the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is a home help program to assist you or your loved one to remain living independently and safely at home. Home Care Packages (HCP) provide a greater level of support and enable you to create a tailored support package that will work for you.

Bethanie offers both self-funded/private and government-funded services. Private care allows you to choose from a wide variety of services tailored to your needs at an affordable fee-for-service price. Government-funded packages help you pay for the services you need and are based on four funding levels. Depending on your location there may also be services available under the government funded Commonwealth Home Support Program.

Home Care is a Government-subsidised service. Depending on your assessment, you would either be eligible to receive CHSP or Home Care Packages.  CHSP is $13/hour for services or $25/day to attend the social centres (excluding lunch).

Home Care packages are more detailed and you may be required to contribute to your funding, depending on your individual circumstances and the services you choose. You can see a full breakdown for Home Care Packages here.

The Veterans Home Care [VHC] programme provides support via the Department of Veterans Affairs. To access these services, you must be assessed as needing home care assistance by a VHC Assessment Agency.
